Wales defender Chris Mepham says Gareth Bale is back to his best in the pitch his woes have ended.
Bale, who seemed to be on his way from Real Madrid in the summer before his turn to club Jiangsu Suning fell through, has found his way into Zinedine Zidane’s plans .
Mepham considers that the future of Bale seems to be solved, he will begin putting in the performances everybody knows he could for Wales after a disappointing year for the team.
“It is excellent to see Gaz back out on the pitch performing,” Mepham said.
“He had a whole lot of speculation through the summer and it is good he’s got that focus back. It was hard when he was not getting the.
“He probably came away with Wales and that was his time to shine and, unfortunately, he did not contribute with all the aims everyone around him desires.
“After we lost the 2 games in Croatia and Hungary I saw him in the dressing room afterwards. He had been devastated, as we all were, but it simply shows just how much it means to him.”
There is apparently a new controversy around the Welsh national team, using a few young players beginning to find the opportunity under Ryan Giggs.
Daniel James’ inventory has skyrocketed since his move to Manchester United, scoring three goals in his four Premier League matches for the Red Devils.
And now Harry Wilson and David Brooks are equally with Mepham at heart level using Bournemouth, and so are increasingly becoming key elements to Eddie Howe’s side.
Mepham, who has started three games to the Cherries himself this season, believes this will help alleviate the pressure put to carry the side.
He said:”It’s been challenging for Gareth with that pressure you every match, to be the man to acquire the goals.
“That is the reason why it’s better to see different lads chipping in – Wilson, Brooks, when he had been in the group, and Daniel James.
“Hopefully that takes the strain off Gareth and now we’ve got good attacking options on Friday [contrary to Azerbaijan].”
And while those players could take the strain of Bale, they could be carrying set-pieces off him also.
Harry Wilson is becoming renowned for his free-kicks, bagging one from Manchester City this season.
However, Mepham backs the Real Madrid man and Champions League-winner to keep the responsibility.
Mepham said:”it is a conversation I don’t want to be involved in!
“The two of them is able to create that moment of magic. Harry scored last week from Manchester City and he has done it many times, but so has Gaz.
“If I’m betting man I’d have cash on Gaz bullying the younger lad out of it”
