As predicted from the start, the stage is set for another battle between Canada and the USA from the gold-medal game of Olympic women’s baseball.
This game will mark the fifth time these rivals will face off to gold in six Olympic women’s baseball tournaments. Canada has won the previous three finals, in 2002, 2010, and 2014, after the Americans won the inaugural tournament back in’98. The match will take place Wednesday, February 21st at 11 p.m. ET.
Canada vs. United States Gold Medal Game Betting Odds
We had a trailer of this matchup on February 14th when Canada got away with a 2-1 win after being outshot 45-23 by Team USA at a preliminary-round game at the Pyeongchang Olympics.
It will all come down to goaltending. When asked her opinion on which group had the advantage in the gold medal showdown, Finnish netminder Noora Raty had this to say:”It’s tough. Canada plays so well as a team; they’re ready, their system’s quite good. U.S. is much more individual skills. I think that it’s likely to come down to goaltending, frankly.”
The American group will most likely begin their young goalie and literary newcomer, Maddie Rooney, whereas Team Canada will proceed with their own veteran, Shannon Szabados. If she does not start, Canada could go with Genevi??ve Lacasse, that had been between the pipes when Canada won the first game against the Americans.
