St Helens scored 24 points in each half as they wrapped up their residence Super League campaign with a win over relegation-threatened Huddersfield in style at the Totally Wicked Stadium.
In-form prop Luke Thompson got a brace while Lachlan Coote had a perfect night with the boot, kicking eight goals in as many attempts.
The success guaranteed the League Leaders Shield winners completed the season without dropping a match on home soil, an ominous record which can give them huge confidence before the play-offs.
When Saints proceeded to win the Grand Final, the last time was 2002. But Huddersfield stay at risk of falling to the Championship.
Saints were involved from the lowest scoring match in Super League history – a 4-0 triumph over Castleford.
But it required the side of Justin Holbrook only three minutes to surpass that Thompson racing into the tryline after a nice pass from his fellow, score prop Alex Walmsley. Coote, playing to Warrington since the Challenge Cup Final defeat for the first time month, added the conversion.

With three moments of this first half a break out of Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook divide the Huddersfield defence wide open and his inside pass sent Morgan Knowles off for a try which Coot goaled for a period lead which did not flatter the house side.
With the half-time team speak in Huddersfield trainer Simon Woolford obviously having had the desired effect, the people got off the markers within three minutes of the restart when Martin Lawrence barged in from close variety for a try along with also the conversion was added by Oliver Russell.
The attempt was supposed to give only temporary respite to the Giants since Saints scored their attempt in the 54th minute, Kyle Amor and Coote again effective.
Thompson claimed his second attempt before Lomax additional Saints’ with 10 minutes remaining. As Huddersfield completed well beaten coote again converted.
Tommy Makinson completed the scoring after taking a pass from Grace from the minutes, Coote again adding the extras.
