Shannon Briggs does not think Andy Ruiz Jr has slacked off as getting world champion, revealing the Mexican stays more hungry than ever.
Since the pair continued their social media tour in Saudi Arabia to the December 7 rematch, live on Sky Sports Box Office ruiz Jr returned to New York, the spectacle of his heavyweight mad against Anthony Joshua, on Thursday.
Briggs was handed an abrupt starring role at the presser,’AJ’ reverberating his”let us move champ’ catchphrase round the area, along with the popular Brooklyn power showed his excitement to the much-anticipated second fight.
“Most men fall off, however he [Ruiz Jr] still appears starving,” Briggs told Sky Sports.
“Together with many fighters, you acquire that name and you party, celebrate, you lose that advantage. I watched Ruiz and he seemed like a good brick-house, I could not believe how great he looked, he actually looked strong, I am impressed.
“It’ll be a wonderful battle. Can it be Joshua as great as we believe he is or is Ruiz really that good? We are going to learn.”
With regards to the battle ‘The Cannon’ admits he was stunned by the results.
“I was amazed but we all know on the boxing within how great a fighter Ruiz Jr is,” he explained.
“I have history , I have known him for a couple of years and have tried to inspire and encourage him as I do everyone.
“I’m glad he got a shooter and that he took advantage of it.
“I feel that maybe AJ was not in his best, perhaps because it was not the original opponent, he had a great deal of anger (Jarrell) Miller, the edge was off, maybe he began slacking in training.”
