Goalkeeper Jack Bonham was the protagonist as Gillingham denied the hosts a league win in a row and held Portsmouth.
Bonham pulled three great rescue at Fratton Park to leave the home audience frustrated.
The visitors setup to stifle but offered little in the way of threat, although the ball was dominated by Pompey lacked any real consistency in the last third.
