A post-LeBron James rebuild was constantly unavoidable in Northeast Ohio, and the Cavs have obviously accepted that fate. Through four in-season transactions , they restocked their cabinets with nine incoming draft picks, including a pair of prospective firsts.
But before heading down reclamation road, 30-year-old Kevin Love was first given a four-year by Cleveland. That speed not only appears inflated given deficiencies and his health history, but it could also lead the Cavs to a few wins. He is still capable of scoring and/or rebounding at an All-Star rate.
The plan has been doomed from the beginning, In case the idea was to lean on Love’s leadership flip him for more rebuilding tools.
“You are not getting an advantage for him under some conditions,” a Western Conference executive told Bleacher Report’s Ken Berger before this season.
Speaking of resources, the in-house collection underwhelms from every angle. Collin Sexton is intriguing, however his 41.1 field-goal percentage and 15.6 assist percentage emphasize his limitations. Cedi Osman functions as a complementary bit, but probably nothing more. The Cavs may be at least a few drafts from forming their next base.
